Aldi sushi is becoming more and more popular among the Aldi nerds of the world. This week when I saw it in their weekly flyer, I decided to pick up a box for myself and find out what the buzz was all about.
Guess what? This sushi is not bad! Read on and we’ll tell you more about.
Aldi Sushi Review
Aldi makes a couple of different types of Sushi and I found this box of Fusia Philadelphia Roll with Cold Smoked Sockeye Salmon in the packed freezer case this Wednesday morning.
What You Get
This past week Aldi features their sushi as part of their Aldi Asian flavors week. This sushi from Aldi comes with:
- 15 pieces of sushi
- Wasabi
- Soy sauce
Each box of this sushi costs less than $6.00.
Typically, sushi is served with soy sauce and pickled ginger. Since this sushi does not come with ginger, Aldi has a great alternative which is one of my favorite Aldi products: Ginger paste in a tube.
If you are thinking that I bought this Aldi ginger paste just for this treat, you could not be more wrong. I always keep a tube of it on hand for my own homemade salad dressings, for which I will be sharing the recipe soon! You can also see that Aldi also carries both basil and garlic stir-in pastes. These are all super useful and convenient for adding flavor to any Aldi recipe.
How is the Sushi from Aldi
In a word or two, not bad! This sushi makes for a great healthy lite meal for one or two people. Or, if you are having friends over or need an inexpensive and ready-to-go appetizer, this Aldi appetizer or meal is a great choice.
As you can see, this sushi is a good source of protein and not a lot of fat. Skip the soy sauce (or use a reduced-sodium version) and it is even healthier. With the wasabi and ginger, there is plenty of added flavor.
This sushi comes frozen, but thaws in an hour or so and is ready to eat in no time. For the price and convenience, we think this sushi is a pretty good buy!

Haven’t tried the sushi, but based on your review, will look for it when I shop this week. Bought the pork pot stickers and used them in a soup recipe, very delicious, and the mini egg rolls aren’t bad either, we enjoyed them as a side with the soup. Love ALDI!
